Stephen Gamble has been holding Gerson Therapy Training days for 5 years read his thoughts and advice here
When was the Gerson Therapy discovered and who is behind it?
Max Gerson developed the therapy in the 1920s and 30s. Initially he began experimenting with foods in order to help his debilitating migraines, he found that by removing certain foods and incorporating more fresh vegetables and fruits in his diet the migraines attacks ceased. Gerson used the 'Migraine diet' with his own patients often with excellent results. One of his patients reported that their skin tuberculosis had healed on the 'migraine diet' and before long Gerson found himself helping hundreds of tuberculosis patients heal themselves of this so called 'incurable disease'.
He began to understand that certain foods can damage us whilst others can actually help us to heal ourselves. Over the coming years and with many changes and additions to his therapy, Gerson found himself helping more and more people overcome many diseases often termed 'incurable' by orthodox medicine.
What are the basic principles behind the treatment?
The basic principles are very simple: Nourish and detoxify.
What is the process?
The process is not so simple and requires commitment and hard work. We run training days for anyone who is considering using The Gerson Therapy or for those interested in learning more about nutrition and detoxification.
How did you become a Gerson Therapist?
I first became aware of Max Gerson whilst studying Natural Nutrition in London and Bristol and after reading His book 'A Cancer Therapy Results of 50 cases' I was completely blown away. After qualifying as a Natural Nutritionist and iridologist I contacted The Gerson Institute in San Diego California and began my training in England, California and Tijuana.
How long have you been teaching people how to do the Gerson Therapy?
I have been working with Gerson Therapy patients for about 7 years, and holding training days here in my Home in Melton Mowbray on a monthly basis for about 5 years.
How many people have you taught?
That's a difficult one to answer but it must several hundred.
Have you noticed it become more popular since you started?
I think that it's popularity has increased a little as the Gerson Institute continues to provide their 'Healing Newsletter' and information such as, books and DVD's. The internet has also made the therapy more accessible.
How many people that you have taught, have gone on to clear the cancer or disease from their body?
I have several patients who have healed their dis-ease, but it must be understood that The Gerson Therapy is usually a last resort after all else has failed, so often people are in a very weakened and toxic condition when they contact me, if they are too depleted the chances of healing are much reduced. I have patients who were labeled 'terminal' but still managed to heal themselves because they used The Gerson first not last.
Is the Gerson Therapy just for cancer or can you do it for a detox with out being terminally ill?
The therapy is non-specific, it is not a cure for anything but a tool to help return the integrity to our healing mechanism. We heal ourselves when the internal environment is sufficiently cleansed and properly nourished. There are a few diseases that will not respond such as those with nerve tissue involvement. When nerve cells have been destroyed they do not regenerate.
How long do you need to do the therapy for?
The average is now between two and a half to three years, but as we are all unique it is impossible to put an actual figure to this
How many juices do you need to have a day?
The number of juices is determined by many factors, the patients state of health, the case history and lab results are assessed before the Gerson Therapy practitioner can devise the daily schedule.
How difficult is it to give yourself a coffee enema and how many do you need to do a day?
The coffee enema is easy and can be done at home in comfort. The number of enemas per day depends on the individual case.
Can you eat regular food as well or is it a strict fruit & veg diet?
The Gerson Therapy diet is very strict at least until sustained healing is evident, then other foods may be allowed cautiously.
I thought coffee was bad for you, why are the coffee enemas used for this?
Coffee taken orally is detrimental to health. It is a stimulant and raises adrenal output, which is why many people use it to start the day instead of addressing the reasons for their low energy, such as diet and lack of quality exercise. Coffee also interferes with our liver's detoxification by closing the bile ducts.
Coffee taken rectally opens the bile ducts in the liver, allowing a bigger release of toxins. This is very important for Gerson Therapy patients who are moving a lot of stored toxins out of their tissues. Failure to do the enemas could result in liver intoxication.
If this works, why can’t you get information about it from the NHS?
The orthodox cancer industry has always refused to acknowledge the Gerson Therapy as a viable form of treatment. Max Gerson presented many healed often terminal cases to them with all the paper work including before and after X-ray evidence and was ignored. There are hundreds of healed patients all around the world but the orthodoxy continue to either ignore or dismiss the therapy. There is no profit to be made for them when people take charge of their own healing and the cancer industry employs many people, so profits are important.
Are there any clinics like the one in Mexico in England or anywhere else in the world?
The Baja clinic in Tijuana is the only clinic licensed by the Gerson Institute to provide the complete Gerson Therapy.
Can you do this alone or do you need support?
It is virtually impossible to do the therapy on your own as there is quite a lot of kitchen work involved, such as meal and juice preparation, etc, etc and coffee concentrates for the enemas.
Are there any government grants or charities that could help with the funding for the therapy?
Many patients are eligible for government grants.
Does private healthcare cover the Gerson Therapy?
This is very unlikely at present, but it may happen in the future as orthodox medicine continues to have such poor results with many diseases. Even when they do get a positive result, this is merely temporary symptomatic relief not healing, the underlying disease is not addressed.
If you decide to do the Gerson Therapy, is it necessary to go to one of the clinics and if so, how much does it cost?
Training days are held monthly, or on demand for groups of 4 or more (held on Sundays at my home in Leicestershire) The cost per person is £70 (which includes 2 juices and 3-course lunch)
For anyone who has decided to do the Gerson Therapy, they can choose whether to attend the clinic first and then carry on at home or to start straight on the therapy at home. The cost of staying at the Gerson Clinic in Mexico is approx £4000/week and the cost of staying in the clinic in Hungary approx £2100/week. Even if someone goes to the clinic they still have to do the therapy themselves at home afterwards. The majority of people will opt to do the therapy at home and because they save the cost of a stay at the clinic, they use this on the costs involved in doing the therapy at home.
If you had to give one piece of advice to someone looking to start the Gerson Therapy, what would it be?
My advice to anyone looking to start the Gerson Therapy would be to attend a training day and talk to healed and healing patients using the Gerson Therapy.
